The main reason behind Shared Experience is to allow one user to see exactly what the viewer in VR is seeing ,but thats not all!
Shared experience in theViewer actually allows you to have do a proper VR Call with your customer.
Imagine that you ,the one who actually creates content is located in London and your customer in NYC.
In only few basic steps both of you can connect in VR with Avatars and talk about your design like you would be in the same room.
Here’s a short video showing how it works :
OK so now that you saw on the video how it works you probably want to try it on your own right? :)
Before we start there is one thing you should know - currently we support avatars only on the Oculus Platfom.
This means that if you want to connect Oculus Rift with GearVR or with Oculus GO it will work great ,but if you will try to connect HTC Vive or an iPad with the Rift ,unfortunately you will not be able to see the avatars.
Here’s how it works :
Before you start please make sure that all the tours that you want to see in VR with another person should be “Released”
Release status means that the tour is frozen and that you are not able to make any changes.
It’s important for Shared Experience because when the tour is frozen we completely eliminate the risk of having small differences between what both users see.
If your tour is not “Released” and you start shared experience in the app , it will immediately become dark and you will not be able to start it.
Solution for that is simply Releasing / Freezing the tour.
OK now we are all set!
The easiest way to test shared experience is to simply login with the same account on both devices
Than on on of the devices please hit start in the app menu
And then on the other device just hit JOIN
And that's it !
The user who Started the shared experience session is the leader and he is the only one who can change tours and panos.
The other user is only a viewer in this session , but he can also point at things , make simple drawings on the pano etc
Here’s how you can do it
SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE FEATURES
